How to Deskrawl Sell Loot: Ultimate Guide to Vendors, Market, and Auto-Sell
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve come back to Deskrawl after a long AFK session and found my hero standing there like a pack mule with a broken zipper. Idle ARPGs have one law: if your bags are full, your gold income is zero. Deskrawl hands you a mountain of loot in the first hour, and if you don’t set up your selling pipeline early, you’ll feel it in your progression.
After sinking an embarrassing number of hours into this game, here’s the full breakdown of how loot, gold, and trading work. I’ve covered the town vendors, the carriage filters, the Life Skills automation, and the Steam Market, and I’ve tried to save you the ‘wait, I sold WHAT?’ moments I’ve already had.
Deskrawl Ancient Oak Treant Boss Guide: Best Warrior Builds & Legendary Loot Drops
The Three Pillars of Deskrawl’s Economy
Your junk-to-gold flow runs on three systems:
- Town Vendors for manual and bulk selling
- Carriage Filters for automatic selling while you’re away
- Steam Market / Auction House for high-end drops that other players want
Get these three working together and your hero never stalls. Let’s start with the one you’ll use the most.
Selling to Town Vendors
Your hub base has merchants, and the general merchant (Grandma) is your first stop. There are three ways to offload gear:
- Single sale: Right-click any item in your 40-slot inventory and the whole stack sells instantly for its listed gold value.
- Bulk Sell button: This is the one you’ll abuse daily. The shop UI has a ‘Sell’ button with toggles for equipment and consumables across Common, Uncommon, and Rare. Flip your toggles, hit the button, and everything matching gets sold. The game remembers your toggles between visits, so you set it once and forget it.
- Safety net: The bulk button will never touch Legendary, Divine, Rune Set, or higher-tier gear. If you try to hand-sell something valuable and tradable, the game stops you with a prompt: ‘This is a valuable tradable item. Sell it anyway?’
That last part saved me once when I almost vendored a drop worth real money on the market. Respect the prompt.
Buyback: Your Undo Button
Patch 0.1.9 added a shared Buyback tab across all town shops, and it’s a lifesaver. It holds exactly the last 8 items you sold. Right-click one in the list and you get it back for the exact gold you were paid.
There are two catches. You need enough gold, and you need a free inventory slot. And once a ninth sale pushes in, the oldest item is gone for good. So if you realize you’ve sold your mount or a key piece of gear, go back to the Buyback tab immediately and don’t do another bulk sell first.
Lock It Before You Regret It
Want to make sure a favorite piece never gets vendored? Hover over it in your 40-slot inventory, equipment screen, or 250-slot town storage chest and press L. You’ll see a ‘Mark as Locked’ indicator, and bulk-sell skips locked items completely.
Out of space and nowhere near a merchant? You can drag an item out of the game window to destroy the whole stack. Junk goes instantly, while locked or rare items throw up a confirmation prompt first. It’s brutal but quick.
Quick Reference: Vendor and Bag Controls
| Action | Control | Protection |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Sell | Right-click item with shop open | Prompt if locked or tradable |
| Bulk Sell | Click ‘Sell’ in shop UI | Common, Uncommon, Rare only; skips locked |
| Buyback | Right-click item in Buyback tab | Last 8 sold items, all shops |
| Lock Item | Press L over item | Shows ‘Mark as Locked’ |
| Destroy Item | Drag outside inventory windows | Instant for junk; prompt for locked/rare |
Auto-Sell and Carriage Filters: The Real AFK Engine
Here’s where idle play actually becomes idle. During a run, loot lands in your minion’s carriage before it ever touches your personal bag. That means the carriage is where you build your filter. In the cart/combat settings:
- Open the cart/combat settings menu.
- Set the pickup filter so your minion ignores white (Common) or green (Uncommon) gear entirely.
- Switch on Automatic Sale for the rarities you want converted straight into gold.
With auto-sale on, Common and Uncommon drops turn into gold on their own, with zero town trips. If you only change one setting after reading this guide, make it this one.
Life Skills: Gold Well Spent
Patch V0.1.10 turned the Life Skills talent tree into a proper automation hub. Putting gold into it unlocks:
- Bigger carriage capacity so you carry more per run
- Auto-dump from the carriage into your main inventory when it fills up
- Auto-sell on drop-off when you return loot to base
I’d rank these as some of the best gold sinks in the early game. They directly cut the babysitting you have to do, and that’s the whole point of an idle game.
Steam Market and Auction House: Where Loot Becomes Real Money
Some drops are worth far more to other players than to any vendor. The Steam Community Market and the in-game Auction House (unlocked and opened with gold) let you sell them.
One hard requirement: your character must be created in Online Mode. Offline or single-player saves run locally and can’t access the marketplace or list anything for Steam Wallet credit. Check this before you invest forty hours into a character.
Also, don’t expect to flip your everyday gear. Standard Common, Rare, and early-game Legendary items can’t be listed. They’re meant for vendor gold, blacksmith upgrades, or dismantling. Per the official game descriptions and high-level testing, what can be traded:
- Minion Reins: Boss-dropped mounts like the Bloodmoon Werewolf Reins or rare raptors
- Endgame gear: Black Mist and Divine tier equipment, which opens up at level 70 once you reach Nightmare, Hell, or Inferno difficulty
- Crafting materials: Select high-tier trade materials
If a boss drops a mount, don’t vendor it. Check the market first.
Troubleshooting: Full Bags and Items on the Town Floor
This is a known pain point. If your carriage, inventory, and 250-slot storage chest are all 100% full when you reach town, the carriage may spill extra items onto the ground. Try to fast travel or leave and you’ll get the warning telling you to collect ground items before traveling to avoid losing them.
Don’t panic and don’t ditch the character. Walk to the general merchant and sell what you don’t need, salvage stuff at the blacksmith, or drag redundant Common gear out of your bag to destroy it. Once you’ve freed up slots, pick up the floor items and you’re good to go.
FAQ
Can I sell items while away from town?
Yes. Turn on the automatic sale toggle in your carriage settings and Common and Uncommon drops convert to gold during the run with no vendor visit needed.
How do I recover an item I sold by mistake?
Open any town vendor and go to the Buyback list. You can repurchase any of your last 8 sold items at the exact price you got.
Does the shop Sell button destroy my Legendary or Divine gear?
No. The bulk Sell button only targets Common, Uncommon, and Rare equipment and consumables. Legendary, Divine, and Rune Set items are never sold by it.
My Take
Deskrawl’s loot management is better than most idle ARPGs I’ve played, mostly because of the safety layers. Buyback, locking, and the tradable-item prompt cover almost every mistake I’ve made. The one thing I’d love is a bigger Buyback window, since 8 slots disappear fast after a bulk sell. Still, the combination of carriage filters and Life Skills automation makes the grind feel good rather than tedious. Set your filters, lock your keepers, watch the boss drops, and let the gold pile up.
